Creating Fashionable Winter Layers

by Antoinette Stonham

Do you get yourself into a rut in Winter, not knowing what to wear?

Do you want to stay stylish and cosy without looking adding bulk to your body shape and ending up ‘boofy’.

Well I have the answer – it’s all about the art of ‘layering’.

You will have most of these pieces in your existing wardrobe. I have put a few options together, so you can implement your own winter layering outfit.

.

.

The idea is to be able to peel off the layers and still look stylish, even when you get down to the base layer, whether it’s your t-shirt, shirt or body top.

.

Firstly, you need to look at the length and weight of the garments you are going to work with. You don’t want to look stiff and over powered with too much fabric.

I’m short with short arms so I try to keep the sleeves as fitted as possible and finishing just above my wrist bone, so I’m not over-powered with too much fabric.

.

Colour and texture will give your outfit an individual look. To make this easy try to keep to the same colour palette.

If you keep in mind the fit and flare rule then you’re on the right track. (boof on boof = more bulk)

.

My Little Secret …

I wear a very thin thermal singlet which give me the warm without the bulk.

I have used the garments below for layering, to great effect. You may want to play around with them to see what you like. Mix and match your garments to create many different outfits.
